Brazilian International Theater Festival Miami 2024

The 2024 edition of the Brazilian International Theater Festival Miami highlights an important theme: "Echoes of Madness," exploring mental health through the arts. Created by Brazilian actress Ana Bugarim, the festival aims to unite cultures and foster dialogue between theater, visual arts, and discussions about mental well-being.

Echoes of Madness: Where Art Unveils the Depths of the Mind

The main play, "Echoes of Madness," directed by Djalma Thürler and starring Ana Bugarim, will be performed on November 6 and 7 at the Black Box Theater in Coral Gables, and from November 8 to 10 at the Hispanic Cultural Art Center in Miami. Inspired by the works of Lima Barreto and psychiatrist Dr. Nise da Silveira, the play promises a moving and thought-provoking perspective on the challenges of mental illness.

In addition to the theatrical performance, the festival will screen short films such as "Right to Dream" and "Being Normal," which address human rights and mental health through the lens of art.

Art Therapy Showcase

There will also be an art therapy exhibit, featuring works by individuals living with mental health conditions, promoting reflection on the transformative power of art.

Debates and Lectures with Experts

The festival includes lectures and debates with renowned experts such as psychiatrist Dr. Jean Pierre Hargreaves and director Djalma Thürler, exploring topics like art therapy and the legacy of Lima Barreto. These discussions aim to create a space to reflect on the importance of mental health in today's world.

The Brazilian International Theater Festival Miami 2024 offers a rich cultural exchange, bringing together diverse voices to discuss mental health, art, and culture.
